Ali Duffy
Dr. Ali Duffy is Associate Director of the School of Theatre and Dance and Professor and Graduate Director of Dance at Texas Tech University. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Flatlands Dance Theatre and Co-Director of the International Parenting and Dance Network. She is commissioned internationally as a choreographer, scholar, and performer. Her research has been supported by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Trust, the Mid-America Arts Alliance, REA Charitable, Community Foundation of West Texas, and the City of Lubbock. Brian Quinn
Brian Quinn is a research, instruction, and outreach librarian at Texas Tech University. He has won the Barnie E. Rushing award. Outstanding Researcher award, as well as the American Psychological Association Excellence in Librarianship Award. Check out his article on the importance of providing students what they need. It’s called “The McDonaldization of Academic Libraries?” He contributed many resources on AI tools and grant writing.
Bryan Giemza
Dr. Bryan Giemza is Professor of Humanities and Literature in the Honors College. As principal investigator of grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities, among others, he has led a variety of public humanities projects concerning U.S. history and culture. Bryan is deeply invested in promoting community engaged scholarship and participatory research. Check out his video.
Chase Mitchell
Dr. Chase Mitchell teaches courses in multimedia production, strategic communication, and media management at East Tennessee State University. Scholarly interests include media ecology, rhetoric, and religious communication. In addition to being an active academic grant writer, he has served as a museum grant writer. Check out his video.
Christopher Thacker
Dr. Christopher Thacker is a Professor of Practice in AI and Pedagogy at Towson University whose teaching, research, and consulting focus on business communication, AI-assisted writing, grant writing, analysis, and process improvement. He researches AI, composition, and Internet-mediated communication. Through A Smarter Way to Write, he develops practical approaches to writing, communication, and the ethical use of AI in professional and educational settings. David Ornelas
David Ornelas is a doctoral student in the Technical Communication and Rhetoric program at Texas Tech University. He teaches first-year writing and general studies courses in San Diego, California, supporting first and second-semester students’ transition to college.

Dr. Ivy Walz is Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, Creativity, and Outreach in the J. T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts and Associate Professor of Voice at Texas Tech University. She supports faculty research, creative activity, grant development, and interdisciplinary collaboration while advancing community engagement and opportunities for student scholarships and fellowships. Kelsie Jackson is a grant writer for the Texas Tech College of Arts & Sciences where he works with the largest constituent college of a major research institution to develop, compose, and submit high-quality grant proposals ranging from the humanities to the life and physical sciences. Lauren N. Maher
Lauren N. Maher is Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at FirstDay Foundation and a Ph.D. student in Technical Communication and Rhetoric at Texas Tech University. She brings more than 20 years of experience in grant development, proposal strategy, technical writing, and high-stakes organizational communication across nonprofit, government, and emergency management settings. Her research examines grant writing as rhetorical practice, with current work focused on asset-based rhetoric, ethical uses of AI, and how professional writing shapes organizational care. He works to provide practical resources for students, educators, researchers, and community organizations, approaching grant writing as a rhetorical, collaborative, and community-centered practice.
Ronald Cole
Ronald Cole is a specialist in scientific and technical communication. Research areas of interest include technical writing, medical rhetorics, grant writing, and lifebooks. He has been the primary grant writer on many successful proposals including those funded by Cigna Foundation, OKI Regional Council of Governments, and the US Federal Government. He teaches at the University of Cincinnati.
